Jack Cummings

Jack Cummings entered Heaven’s gate, age 85 on Wednesday, March 13, 2024. Jack was born on July 4, 1938 and raised in Burnsville MS. At 17 he and his twin brother Mack joined the Mississippi National Guard and shortly after Jack went to work in Chicago where he began his family. He spent most of life as a truck driver and found great joy in his trucking career. In the early sixties he returned to Mississippi and Tennessee to be near his extended family. He worked for Southeastern Motor Freight in Memphis, Sanderson Equipment in Tuscumbia Alabama, logger in the Iuka area and retired from Airco Boc in Cherokee. Al 2001. In 1975 he accepted Jesus as his personal Savior. Jack served as a dedicated member of Harmony Hill Baptist Church, Burnsville MS where he also served as a Deacon and loved singing special hymns. He has lived the precious 8 years in Alabama near his daughter and family watching his great grandchildren and great grandchildren grow.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Pat and Artie Cummings; siblings, Paul Cummings, Reba Thornton, Margie O’Neil, and Melba Woods; his twin brother, Mack Cummings; son, Jerry L Cummings; cousin like a brother, Dwight Fields; the mother of his children, Opal Melinda Cummings.
Survivors include his daughter, Jackie Witt and husband Dwight (Doc); grandchildren, Kayla Roger’s( Doug), Josh Cummings (Raigen), Jessica Middleton (Killen), AJ Hubbard, Sean Hubbard, (Ginger); sister Betty Norris; sister in law ,Betty Ruth Cummings; special niece, Ramonda Cummings; great niece, Emily Cummings. He enjoyed time with his 10 great children. He was loved by a host of nieces and nephews. He lived life full of laugher and enjoyed spending time with his friends and family. If you knew him you knew when you saw him coming ,he was up to something humorous.  Thanks To Calvery he is with Mack, Jerry and Jesus.  Many other family and friends will be celebrating his welcome into Heaven. Graveside service will be held Thursday, March 14, 2024  at Hebron Church, Iuka, MS beginning at 4:00 p.m. with Pastor AJ Hubbard officiating. Pallbearers include Sean Hubbard, Archie Hubbard, Eugene Gray, Doug Rogers, and Josh Cummings. Ludlam Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Jack Cummings.
