Charles Odis Bishop Jr. age 83, of Cherokee, Alabama passed away Friday, October 24, 2025. Charles was a man of many talents and a lifelong farmer and outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, discussing history, piddling, raising cows, and gardening. A true jack of all trades and a positive thinker, he loved working on John Deere tractors and was known as a skilled mechanic. Above all, he cherished time spent with his family and especially enjoyed visiting with his grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him and loved him.
He is survived by his loving wife, Sarah Wigginton Bishop; children, Greg Bishop (Bethany), Kathy Bishop Gann, Terry “Boogie” Wigginton and Elesha Wigginton; affectionately known as “Poppa”, grandchildren, Keith Gann (Kristen), Katie Tipton (Adam), and Milli Bishop; great-grandchildren, Aubrey Kate Tipton, Lucy Gann, Lincoln Tipton, and Lottie Gann; and his special hunting buddy and brother-in-law, Melvin Pounders.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Odis and Marceil Twitty Bishop; and grandparents, Albert and Effie Woodis Bishop, Clarence and Lyda Blackburn Twitty.
A graveside service will be held at Allsboro Cumberland Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Cherokee, Alabama, Tuesday, October 28, 2025 beginning at 4 PM with Bro. Roger Pounders officiating.
