Debra Wheeler, age 57, passed away Wednesday, March 08, 2023, from a brief battle with cancer. She was born February 08, 1966. She grew up a member of Mt. Gilead Church, as she loved to serve the lord. She taught at Burnsville School for 30 years. She retired as a G.E.M.S teacher in 2020, where she brought out the creativity in each and every child. She loved her job, and loved her students. She will be remembered for her contagious smile, and infectious laugh. Her most cherished time was spent with her “favorite person”, Channing Wheeler. She is survived by her brother, Brian Wheeler (Dana); special niece, Channing Wheeler; special cousin, Jennifer Harmon; uncle, Owen Wheeler (Barbara); aunts, Kay Chatmon Moore, Valarie Wood, Nell Wheeler, and a host of cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edwin and Sherry Wheeler; grandparents, Windom and Bertha Vincent Wheeler, Walter and Ruby Wood; aunts and uncles, Audley Wood (Vera), Walteen “Tinky” Curtis (Danny), Virginia Cantrell (Paul), Rodney Wood, Don Wheeler, Leamon Chatmon, A.D. Reid. Visitation will be held Friday, March 10, 2023 at Ludlam Funeral Home, Iuka, MS beginning at 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 11, 2023 at Ludlam Funeral Home Chapel beginning at 1:00 p.m. with a visitation prior beginning at 11:00 a.m. Bro.
