Jackie Ray Nix of Burnsville, MS, was born on October 25, 1943, and passed away Saturday, October 2, 2021, at Iuka Medical Center. Jackie was born in Lepanto, Arkansas, to Almer and Mamie McGaughy Nix, he was the youngest of their four children. He was an auto body man by profession; he owned and operated Farmington Auto Body in Farmington MS until 2004 when he retired due to health issues. Jackie lived a full life, and some would say he was the “life of the party” he certainly was someone who kept you laughing; his sense of humor was unmatched. He was a St. Louis Cardinal Fan; he enjoyed taking the grandchildren to see games and spending time with them when they were younger. He was a history buff, both Biblical and World. He studied the Bible in detail as well as various history books, especially interested in the Civil War era. He loved his family and friends; he never met a stranger. Jackie also loved his dogs; he loved all dogs. He took his fur babies to spring every morning to run and play while he got fresh water for the day. Jackie is survived by his daughters Jennifer Nix Davis (Robert), Cindy Barnes (Mike), and Angie Tennison (Mike); two sons, Jeff Nix, and Corey Huggins (Leslie); grandchildren, Shailyn Bolton Robby Davis (LeeAnn), Lynzee Rushing (Stevie), Skylar Barnes, Stephen Barnes (Kristina), Michael Tennison (Denise), Skylar Nix, Rileigh Nix, and Kellan Huggins; great grandchildren, Heidi Lynn “Boss Baby,” Jon Anthony Bolton, Harlee Cantler, Jack Rushing, Luna Rushing, Charlie Tennison, Madelynn Tennison; several nieces and nephews; fur babies, Buster, and Raven. He was preceded in death by his parents, Almer and Mamie Nix; sisters, Quay Whitehurst and Opal Duncan; brother, Hershel Nix; several beloved friends. The family would like to express our sincere thanks to his caretaker Kim, she took excellent care of him. He was grateful and truly blessed to have had her. Also, his ex-wife Alice Nix that was married to Jackie for 20 plus years has been so helpful during this sad time and knew him best. At Jackie’s request the family will have a graveside service at a time to be determined. Bro. Ricky Fields will be officiating the service.
