Leroy William Sheffield Obituary

Leroy William “Charlie” Sheffield, age 86 passed away on Saturday, March 2, 2024, after an extended illness. He was a wonderful man and a U.S. Navy Veteran who enjoyed life, especially gardening and vintage tractors. He never met a stranger, and everyone was his “neighbor.” He is greatly missed by his family and his many friends, including his morning coffee group at Hardee’s. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Annie Ruth Young Sheffield; his daughters, Rebecca Sheffield, Tammy McAnally and husband Steve; his son, Andy Sheffield and wife, Dreama.

He adored his wonderful grandchildren; Taylor McAnally Gibson (David), Paige Sheffield Martin (Sam), Tanner McAnally, Lauren Sheffield, Charlie McAnally and Cooper McAnally. He suffered the loss of an infant granddaughter, Jana Beth Sheffield. He was also blessed with two beautiful great grandchildren, Annie Jane Martin and William Neal Martin. He also leaves behind his sister, Mary Jane Davis and his brother, Joe Sheffield (Tanya) and many nieces and nephews.

Special thanks to Vickie Wimberly, Sidney and Jane Robinson, Star Hy, Kathy Williams, Phil and Paula Moore, Michael and D.D. Lambert.Visitation will be on Thursday, March 7, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at Mt. Evergreen Church Iuka, MS.  Service will begin at 3:00 p.m. with Bro. Michael Lambert officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Evergreen Cemetery. Pallbearers include Tanner McAnally, Charlie McAnally, Cooper McAnally, Eddie Byers, Sam Martin and David Gibson. Honorary pallbearers (great friends) include Jerald and Linda Wallace, Frank Jr. and Gayle Williams, Richard and Myra Strom, Bobby and Janis Welch, Terry Welch, Ray and Velma Bugg, Paulie Nunley, Jason Nunley and Dr. Ben Kitchens.The kindness and compassion from this group of people was a special blessing to us.There are no words to express the gratitude we owe to Dr. Felix Morris to allow us time to care for our “daddy” during this extended illness.Ludlam Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Leroy William “Charlie” Sheffield.
