Sergeant Major, Lee Roy Vess, 85, passed away peacefully on February 28, 2020.
Mr. Vess is survived by two stepdaughters: Kellye (Brian) McKendree and Kathye Gist, as well as their families respectively. He leaves behind a sister, Dela Cox, a nephew, Stanley (Becky) Cox. He also leaves behind Jesse (Nancy) Dexter, his first cousin and best friend.
Lee was a kind and loving man. He was also a well decorated soldier who proudly served our country in the United States Army. After his successful retirements from both the U.S. Army and Tennessee Valley Authority, Lee enjoyed gardening, reading the paper, discussing politics and watching football. He was an animal lover who cared deeply for his pets, including strays and the deer that considered his home a safe haven throughout the year. Lee loved to make jokes and had a ready smile to share for all those around him. He was a devoted husband to the late Martha Jane Vess. Lee will fondly be remembered by his friends and family as a loving stepfather, generous giver and proud patriot.
Visitations will be held on Saturday, February 29, 2020, from 6pm to 8pm and Sunday, March 1, 2020, from 12pm until 2 pm at Ludlam Funeral Home in Iuka, MS. Funeral service will be held Sunday, March 1, 2020 at 2pm at Ludlams Funeral Chapel. Burial will in Oak Grove Cemetery, Iuka, MS. Officiating will Sister Shirley Woodruff and Sister Carolyn Brown
